By RichQueen Editorial TeamUpdated 6 min read

Gaming should be entertainment — never a way to pay bills or win back losses. If it's stopped being fun, help is free and confidential.

PAGCOR National Problem Gambling Helpline — 24/7

Free and confidential. Trained counselors listen and can refer you to longer-term support. Family members can call too.

Warning signs

  • You play with money meant for rent, food, tuition, or bills.
  • You borrow, use loan apps, or pawn things to keep playing.
  • You chase losses — "babawi lang ako."
  • You hide how much you play from family.
  • You feel restless or irritable when you try to stop.
  • Gaming is the first thing you think about when you wake up.

If two or more sound familiar, please call the helpline. You don't have to hit "rock bottom" first.

Tools that work

  • Deposit limits: set daily, weekly, or monthly caps in your casino account.
  • Time-outs / cool-off: lock your account for 24 hours to several weeks.
  • Self-exclusion: request exclusion from PAGCOR-licensed gaming, through the operator or directly with PAGCOR.
  • Remove payment links: unlink GCash/Maya from gaming accounts and delete saved cards.
  • Blocking apps: install gambling-site blockers on your phone.

The Royal Decree

  1. Fun money only. Rent, tuition, and padala money never touch a casino wallet.
  2. Decide the exit first. A loss limit and a walk-away win, set before you log in.
  3. One account, one wallet. Fewer places to top up means fewer impulse deposits.
  4. No play when you're stressed, tipsy, or bored at 2 AM. Those are the sessions that hurt.
  5. Tell one person. Someone who knows your limits keeps you honest.

Remember: gaming is only for adults 21 and older. Government employees and members of the military and police are barred from playing in PAGCOR-regulated gaming.

FAQ

Can my family request exclusion for me?
Yes. PAGCOR's self-exclusion program also accepts requests from immediate family members in certain cases. Call the helpline or contact PAGCOR for the current process.
